Biography
Natalie Settles is a 2008 Wisconsin Arts Board Fellow. American, born 1978, she has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1999 including venues in Norway, Brazil, Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and California among others. From anatomy and anthropomorphism to domestication and minimalism, SettlesŐ work has engaged the often-parallel concerns of art and science. Her work has even lead to several collaborative projects with biological researchers. Settles interned as a model-maker and sculptor for the Smithsonian Institution in 2003, fashioning objects for the National Museums of American History, Natural History and the American Indian. Settles creates spare, crisp works in drawing, print, and sculpture, shifting easily between two and three dimensions. Her work is available from Skestos Gabriele Gallery in Chicago.
