The Heinz Endowments and Pittsburgh Foundation have funded Settles’ laboratory residency

The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments have funded the artist’s independently initiated residency and project with the Tonsor Evolutionary Biology Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh. This funding recognizes the ongoing work of the social sculpture, a living work of art in which the scientists and artist are seeking to shift and influence each other’s practices in new ways. It also supports the early development of Natalie’s new project emerging from her time in the lab, The Evolving Wallpaper, which is both a work of art and a system of scientific experimentation.
